The local American Legion Post #245 serves Carroll /Grayson Counties.

Meetings are held the first Friday each month at 6:00 PM at Galax Library, 610 W. Stuart Drive, Galax.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a mutual-help, Patriotic, and Community Service organization. It is the World’s largest Veterans organization with a membership of over 2.7 million.
Membership eligibility dates are set by Congress requiring a least one day of Federal active duty during times of war. Unlike the VFW, combat zone service is not required, as it takes about 14 people in support of each combat troop carrying a rifle.
